Piercings have been done for thousands of years, given how common they are now its easy to over look the importance of aftercare. A new piercing is fundamentally a new wound, that means the correct aftercare is important for not only the healing process but to save you a painful experience. Proper aftercare can prevent infections and complications that may arise from a fresh piercing.
Here are Three Do's and Don'ts to help you heal a piercing successfully
Use an Antiseptic Spray
An important first step to prevent infection is to use an antiseptic spray, we recommend about twice daily for 2 to 3 weeks. Any antiseptic spray is fine to use as long as it works for you.
Do Not Touch Your Fresh Piercing
Touching your new piercing is the number one cause for infections. Fingers are loaded with millions of bacteria which will quickly cause your piercing to become infected. So, avoid touching, turning and moving your piercing until its healed.
Changing the Jewellery too Early
Keeping the jewelry in for a minimum of 3 months (unless downsizing) is advised to lower the risk of infection or irritation.
